Montessori gives your child a strong
basis, in their most formative years, for developing into
a well rounded responsible happy and fulfilled child.
Our comprehensive curriculum covers all essential topics surrounding
the theory, philosophy and methodology of Dr. Maria Montessori.
The critical stages of development for this age group are
covered in our program – these include :
- Practical
Life
- Sensorial
Development and Music Enrichment
- Language
Arts
- Culture
and Science
- Mathematics
Practical Life Activities
Practical Life Activities: Real life experiences within the
class room. The Practical Life area is designed to help the
child learn how to care for themselves developing skills in
independence and respect for others. Practical Life activities
are also offered to assist your child in developing a sense
of order, concentration, fine motor skills, grace and courtesy,
confidence and self esteem.
Sensorial Development
& Music Enrichment
The Sensorial area allows your child to explore their own
world through their own senses, learning skills such as spatial
awareness (lengths, widths, heights) colors, shapes, textures,
smells etc.
Language Arts
Through the use of a multitude of activities, e.g. tracing
inside the insets, using the sandpaper letters and much more
your child will learn how to hold a pencil and form letters.
Through phonetics they will learn letters initially progressing
finally how to read.
Culture and Science:
Geography - History
- Botany - Zoology - Science Experiments Children
by their very nature are fascinated by every tiny detail of
everything – “why is the sky blue”, “how
does the sea go in and out”, “Can we have a monkey
for a pet”,” Why is granny crinkly”, all
logical questions that now can be solved by the child themselves
through Culture and Science in the Montessori Method.
These exciting subjects give children the opportunity to explore
the world we live in, how it came about :
-
Starting with land, water and air, and progressing
to studying the world's different regions
through photographs, art and geography puzzles.
-
Learning of the balance of nature.
-
Growing plants and caring for creatures and animals.
-
By examining their own timeline from birth to present,
and their own family tree, children gain their first
sense of history, and the concept of time
is brought to life.
The activities are interesting and fun! They are all "hands
on".
Mathematics
All activities incorporate
the use of concrete materials. Children first
learn to count to ten, and systematically progress to solving
complex addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
questions.
Physical Development
Through physical activities
your child will learn the importance of exercise, and become
in touch with their body’s learning what they can and
can’t do.
